In 2009, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) revised their guidelines regarding endorsements and testimonials in order to protect the public from any intentionally errant or misleading advertising that has been paid for by a group or company. Since this blog is a source of income and may at times include endorsements or reviews, I believe it is the right thing to be as transparent as possible with my readers and disclose some points of the guidelines below:
- This blog is a personal blog, written and edited by me and only me (if you could see me, I have my hand on the Bible while I’m typing with the other hand… okay, I’m kiddin’). If you have any questions about this blog or the policies, feel free to contact me Julie@myweeabode.com.
- This blog is a source of income and I may, at times, work with companies/products/services.
- I will only choose to endorse products/businesses/services that I personally enjoy and use, and that I feel you all would enjoy and use!
- Though I receive free products and services from the businesses I work with, it in no way influences my opinions or review of the products/services.
- The FTC is an important government entity, but I am accountable to the highest Authority of the universe. So, I always want to treat my readers the way I would want to be treated… and I SO hate being duped. So, I will always strive to be truthful and honest in my posts (whether or not I’m being compensated by a company/sponsor/advertiser).
- When affiliates/products/services are mentioned in posts, it may or may not be noted as so in every reference.
My intent for this blog is to provide inspiration, information, tutorials and content that my readers will enjoy and benefit from while making a small profit for the time, energy and work I put into providing the content. My priority is to bring glory to God by being ethical and honest with my readers.
I LOVE commenting on blogs, and I SO appreciate it when you leave comments! If we all would be sure to grant much grace to each other and be kind and respectful in all our words left in the comments sections, it will make our time together a wonderful blessing! Thank you!
The privacy of visitors to My Wee Abode is important to me.
At My Wee Abode, I recognize that privacy of your personal information is important. Here is information on what types of personal information I receive and collect when you use and visit My Wee Abode, and how I safeguard your information. I never sell your personal information to third parties.
As with most other websites, I collect and use the data contained in log files. The information in the log files include your IP (internet protocol) address, your ISP (internet service provider, such as AOL or Shaw Cable), the browser you used to visit my site (such as Internet Explorer or Firefox), the time you visited my site and which pages you visited throughout my site.
Cookies and Web Beacons
I also use third party advertisements on My Wee Abode to support my site. Some of these advertisers may use technology such as cookies and web beacons when they advertise on my site, which will also send these advertisers (such as Google through the Google AdSense program) information including your IP address, your ISP , the browser you used to visit this site, and in some cases, whether you have Flash installed. This is generally used for geotargeting purposes (showing New York real estate ads to someone in New York, for example) or showing certain ads based on specific sites visited (such as showing cooking ads to someone who frequents cooking sites). Thank you SO much for helping support this site!
DoubleClick DART cookies
I also may use DART cookies for ad serving through Google’s DoubleClick, which places a cookie on your computer when you are browsing the web and visit a site using DoubleClick advertising (including some Google AdSense advertisements). This cookie is used to serve ads specific to you and your interests (“interest based targeting”).
The ads served will be targeted based on your previous browsing history (For example, if you have been viewing sites about visiting Los Angeles, you may see Los Angeles hotel advertisements when viewing a non-related site, such as on a site about hockey). DART uses “non personally identifiable information”. It does NOT track personal information about you, such as your name, email address, physical address, telephone number, social security numbers, bank account numbers or credit card numbers.
You can opt-out of this ad serving on all sites using this advertising by visiting http://www.doubleclick.com/privacy/dart_adserving.aspx
You can choose to disable or selectively turn off my cookies or third-party cookies in your browser settings, or by managing preferences in programs such as Norton Internet Security. However, this can affect how you are able to interact with this site as well as other websites. This could include the inability to login to services or programs, such as logging into forums or accounts.
Deleting cookies does not mean you are permanently opted out of any advertising program. Unless you have settings that disallow cookies, the next time you visit a site running the advertisements, a new cookie will be added.
