With the arrival of so many organizing books, methods, and video series, keeping a house neat and tidy is the topic of LOTS of conversations these days. When living in a small home, being organized just may be the number one priority.  Well, it’s gotta be in the top three!  If you live in a tiny house or apartment, as I do, there are lots of tricks and tools you can use to make your dwelling neat and tidy.  And, there are lots of reasons to keep your home organized:

  • Organized homes are easier to clean (you don’t spend time putting things away and decluttering while cleaning)
  • Studies have shown that sleep habits are improved in neat/tidy rooms
  • Having a neat/tidy (and clean) home offers comfortable surroundings to friends and guests
  • Items seldom get lost in an organized home (think keys, glasses, nail clippers, etc.)
  • Shopping lists are easy to build when items are organized in drawers and cupboards
  • Overbuying is often curbed when a shopping list is easy to create thus organizing saves money (see point above)
  • Organized homes can tend to give a sense of over-all well being
  • Plus so much more…

THE BEST CABINET ORGANIZERS FOR SMALL HOMES

Last week, we took a look at the best organizers to get the most out of your drawers in a small home.  Several readers shared that it was very helpful, so I thought a cabinet organizer guide should be next on the agenda! (Plus, doing the cabinet AND drawer guide in one post was just WAY too long!) 😉

So, here are some cupboard organizers that are super helpful for small homes, tiny houses, large homes, apartments, and every type of home that you can imagine!

Cabinet Drawers

1. SimpleHouseware 2 Tier Sliding Cabinet Basket Organizer Drawer

One of my fave items that I use in several places in My Wee Abode is this sliding basket drawer.  It automatically adds drawers to any cabinets, closets, armoires, and even refrigerators! And the slide-out baskets are so convenient. This set features a top basket that is open, which means you can put taller items on top.  Available in bronze and silver, this is definitely one of the best cabinet organizers for small homes.

2.  Simple Houseware Stackable 3 Tier Sliding Basket Organizer Drawer

This option is new to me!  Think of the possibilities of keeping things organized, neat, and tidy with this added drawer space in your bathroom, kitchen, or closet!  Love that it adds additional shelf space on the top! (This also comes in bronze or silver)

3. Silver Metal Basket with Sliding Drawer and Steel Mesh Platform

Only need a single drawer with added shelf space?  This is perfect!  This product line actually has several different variations and options.

Cabinet Shelves

4. DecoBros Expandable Stackable Kitchen Cabinet and Counter Shelf Organizer

These shelves are expandable in that one fits underneath the other one, making them expandable for width, but not height. They are ‘mesh’ which means they are very stable for any glass items (everything topples over on those plastic wire covered shelves… ugh!). Available in silver and bronze.

5. YouCopia 50090 StoreMore Height Expandable Kitchen Shelf Organizer

Now these shelves, these are what I’m talking about! Though these are a bit more expensive, even *I* can justify the price! Wouldja just look?!  These shelves come in two different widths and are adjustable by height!  I want these in my life!  Check out the video, it’s pretty cool!)

6. SimpleHouseware Under Sink 2 Tier Expandable Shelf Organizer Rack

This item is a fave of mine!  You can see this ‘live’ in my bathroom cupboard HERE. (Warning… one of MWA’s first posts!) This shelf organizer is fully adjustable and can actually be formatted to fit around the plumbing under your sink.  The mesh adjustable shelf units are easy to clean and make it easy for items to sit without toppling over. I can’t say enough about this item!

Undershelf Organization

So often we waste vertical space in our cabinets and cupboards.  The area that is left empty above dishes, glasses and other items in the cupboards can be used, too!

7. Spectrum Diversified 34100 White Sliding Cup Rack

This sleek and modern cup holder/rack can be easily installed inside the cabinet, under a shelf, or outside and directly underneath the cabinet.  Again, this is a fave of mine, as featured in Coffee Stations for Small Spaces.

8. Wallniture Metal Mug Cup Holder Rack

Available in chrome and black, these hooks can be installed inside the back or sides of your cabinets.  And they can hold so much more than just coffee mugs… think potholders, baking tools, anything that can be ‘hooked’. 😉 (You can even use these to hold jewelry, scarves, and belts in a closet!)

9. Alliebe Utility Slide-On Hooks

Note: This link is for two items, one black and one white.  They are available in a three pack in single colors (I have no idea why!)  Easy to install, and so versatile, just make sure ALL the measurements will fit your shelf. 😉

10. Under Shelf Wrap Holder

What a smart way to store kitchen wrap! This item is really helpful for small spaces that need every inch used!  Again, make sure to measure twice, just to be sure everything will fit in your cupboard.

Bathroom Cabinet Organizers

11. Cosmetic Holder with a Drawer

This sweet little organizer would be perfect in a cabinet, and would be pretty sitting out on the counter, too!

12. Mantello Makeup Organizer Vanity Organizer with Drawers, White

Another makeup organizer that would look nice on the counter, but is a wonderful bathroom cabinet organizer, as well!

13. Square Frosted  Plastic Storage Containers with Lids

Okay… these are tiny, tidy, magical boxes!  Why?  Because these can be used to hold medicines in your cabinet.  Remove your individually packed medicines (think Sudafed, cold tablets, etc.) from their boxes and place them in these plastic boxes that you label with the medicines names! (Be sure to keep box directions in the containers, as well.)  Eliminates messy boxes falling out of your medicine cabinet.

Bonus Organizers

Here are some items that are helpful organizing tools that you may just feel you need tidy-up your small spaces. I know they are calling my name!

14. Wire Storage Basket with Handles

Who doesn’t love bins?!  And these have a sweet farmhouse look to them, too!

15. YouCopia 06121-31-WHT TeaStand 100+ Tea Bag Organizer

If you’re a tea lover, this is for you!  It can hold over 100 tea bags, is great for small spaces, and I think it’s kinda pretty!

16. Sagler Tea Box Tea Storage Bamboo Natural

You KNOW I love me some bamboo!

17. Tangkula Bathroom Wood Storage Cabinet

Okay… this slim little cabinet has been on my Pinterest Bathroom Inspirations board FOREVER (go over and give me a follow to see all kinds of inspiration) and I couldn’t find it anywhere… until now!  Talk about adding some additional storage to a small bathroom, kitchen, or bedroom!  We’re talking “Tiny House Heaven”, people!

18. Surpahs Over the Sink Multipurpose Roll-Up Dish Drying Rack

Okay, I know this post is a bit long…  This is the last one, but not the least!  I came across this while shopping for this guide, and I just had to share!  This over-the-sink dish rack is pretty cool.  It even rolls up and fits under the sink, taking up just a wee bit of space!  Nifty!

And, if you are looking for great storage ideas for toys, take a look at how to pack Legos of moving. These ideas are great for storing Legos in cabinets, even if you aren’t moving!

So there you have it!  So many items that can be considered the best cabinet organizers for small homes.  Eighteen items that will save you space, make your life a bit easier, and maybe even a little more comfortable.  Which items will you be adding to your home?  I think those adjustable shelves and a coffee rack are going in my cart! 😉
