Last Minute Mother’s Day Gifts Mom Will Love!
Hey, all! A busy week calls for a Mother’s Day post with a list of last minute Mother’s Day Gifts Mom will love… namely, books!
LAST MINUTE GIFTS MOM WILL LOVE!
These days, there are LOTS of wonderful, beautiful, helpful and inspiring books to choose from, which make books my ‘go-to’ choice for any gift occasion. So, of course, it was my choice for Mother’s Day gift-giving! Today, I’m going to share with you five of my current ‘faves’ (in no particular order). These authors happen to be on the top of my list of bloggers, too. So, let’s get to it!
BTW…

“LIFE IN SEASON” by Vanessa Hunt and Heather Patterson from At the Picket Fence blog
Sisters, Vanessa and Heather, began their blogging journey in 2010. Their website consists of lifestyle, home décor, and DIY posts, along with the occasional guest blogger article. One of the biggest reasons I love reading their blog is because they (almost) always use their posts to point to Jesus and to bring much glory to Him. “Life In Season” is no exception.
About “Life In Season”
This devotional book is packed with Vanessa and Heather’s real-life stories and what the Lord has taught them through every-day experiences. I often find myself laughing out loud reading one chapter, and crying while reading the next. Along with the wonderful photography and illustrations, they have generously sprinkled some of their own DIY projects (recipes, crafts, home décor) throughout the book, making this not only a beautiful “read” but a practical and productive one, too!
Talk about a gorgeous cover….
Beautiful illustrations and photography make this book a great coffee-table book, as well.
Keeping it real… LOL!
Wonderful and easy DIYs…
“SO CLOSE TO AMAZING” by KariAnne Wood from Thistlewood Farms blog
Master storyteller, author, blogger, diy-er… the list goes on. KariAnne Wood is the owner and author of Thistlewood Farms blog. To see my complete review (and personal story of ‘finding’ KariAnne’s blog), read my post HERE. But for now, I will say this…
About “So Close to Amazing”
This book is a wonderful read! The first chapter had me both laughing and crying (I either do that a lot, or these first two books are simply wonderful… I think it’s the latter). KariAnne’s style of writing is quirky, and sometimes random with her “total asides”, but it all makes sense and is so much fun to read! Again, at the end of each chapter, this book has a special DIY project that correlates with the story that has just ended. Best of all, KariAnne always points to the Lord, showing us that perfect is not what it’s cracked up to be, and that His plans for our lives ARE always perfect!
Love KariAnne’s ‘total asides’…
Another book with great DIYs…
“MY SOULFUL HOME: A YEAR IN FLOWERS” by Kelly Wilkniss from My Soulful Home blog
My Soulful Home blog is a home and lifestyle blog where Kelly shares her love of décor, gardening, recipes, DIY, and spray paint! 😉 She and her hubby and two daughters have recently moved into an 1886 victorian farmhouse that is on the National Register of Historic Homes here in Southern California. She admits they purchased this now-gorgeous-renovated home from a dear old man that was akin to Fred Sanford from the seventies TV show “Sanford and Son” (Google it 😉 ). Their home has been a HUGE project. I, for one, am glad they have chosen to share the process with us!
About “A Year In Flowers”
Kelly is an avid gardener and lover of all things floral. Her book, “My Soulful Home: A Year in Flowers” is the only book in this post that I have yet to own (it’s on my wishlist for Mother’s Day). Browsing her blog, as well as on Amazon, it is easy to see that this book is GORGEOUS! Each month, Kelly shares with us a special arrangement she has created, along with a tutorial on how to replicate the arrangement for our own homes! *Insert angels singing*. She also gives us lots of advice, tips, and tricks on how to grow beautiful flowers in our own back (or front) yards! (I also understand there’s much more this book has to offer by way of making our everyday lives more beautiful.)

Wouldn’t you love to learn how to create this?
Or this…
“GRACELACED” by Ruth Chou Simons of GraceLaced blog
I was first introduced to the art of Ruth Chou Simons about 5 years ago by my sister, DeeDee. DeeDee had gone to a Christian women’s conference and one of the booths featured the “GraceLaced” prints and canvas works. My sister brought a few of the prints home to display in her office area, and I was amazed. The watercolor art and Scripture verses are written in beautiful hand-lettering forced me to keep my gaze on the prints. Because of my tight budget, and, at the time, not having a home of my own, I was happy content okay with just looking at my sister’s prints when I went to visit her, instead of purchasing my own prints. Then, last year, “GraceLaced” the book was published. (I hear more angels singing!…. and even more so because it’s on sale now on Amazon!)
About “Gracelaced”
Not only does this book have a gorgeous cover, but it is also filled with Ruth’s artwork and exceptional photography, which completely almost satisfies my desire for GraceLaced prints. Broken into seasonal sections, each chapter covers a particular spiritual area that encourages us, through Scripture and short application suggestions, to grow in Christ. This is a wonderful book for short devotions, but does give additional Scriptures if you want to ‘dig-deeper’. (Oh, and just sayin’… if you follow me on Instagram, you can probably figure out where I got the floral accents for some of these pics! 😉 )
(One more thing… in case you are saying, “I could NEVER write in a book this beautiful!”, GraceLaced also offers the GraceLaced Journal, which would make this a ‘doubly-good’ gift! 😉 )
Turn the page and get this…
Ruth encourages us to do our own artwork in the book, and to not feel bad about writing in it! (Just sayin’, being a bit transparent here!)
Turn the page and get this…
Pretty amazing, huh?
“THE DIY HOME PLANNER” by KariAnne Wood from Thistlewood Farms blog
Yep, a second book from KariAnne! I do love me some KariAnne reading (you HAVE to check out her blog). I LOVE this book, however, I’m suggesting this book for another reason, as well. Having been on the launch team for “The DIY Home Planner“, I was privileged to receive a copy before it was released to the public. The day that I received my piece of ‘happy mail’, I took the book over to my mom’s apartment and let her look at it. To my surprise, she spent the rest of the evening reading the book from cover-to-cover. She loved it, just like I did/do! The whole time she was reading it, she would say things to me like, “Ohhh, this is good…”, “Ha, that’s funny”. So, friends, this book is ‘mom-approved’, making it a super Mother’s Day gift. (BTW, right now “The DIY Home Planner” is on sale through Amazon… click HERE).
About “The DIY Home Planner”
The DIY Home Planner is different from the rest of the books I have mentioned in that this book is definitely a home décor/interior design book, with several twists. This book is FILLED with designer tips and advice along with hands-on projects for you to DIY in your own home! Literally, from floor to ceiling, KariAnne helps you to create a beautiful home, the way YOU want your home to look.
Look at that cute little pocket to help you stay organized!
One of my favorite sections… what style of lighting do you favor?

karianne
Oh, KariAnne, it’s my pleasure! Thank you so much for coming by and commenting! Hugs!
I really like the collection you have curated! I think I am going to have to get the final book by KariAnne…I think I actually ran across it previously, before I knew she was a blogger. I have a book by Melissa Michaels called “The Inspired Room” and several of these book covers and pictures remind me of that (in a good way). I am a big fan of actionable tips, too. Kind of want to get the other KariAnne book though, just for this sentence : Add yoga pants, and people might think you have been working out. ROFL!
You will not be disappointed, whichever you choose. However, knowing you, I think you would like the So Close To Amazing… it’s a quick read and you will really get to ‘know’ KariAnne through that book! Let me know which one you choose! Hugs to Agent Squirrel!
Great recommendations Julie I actually have all but the newest by KariAnne. Hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day!
Oh, thanks for coming by, Sonya! Wow, sounds like you need to put the DIY Home Planner on your wish list! Say ‘hi’ to Agent Silent B. for me! 😉
I have forwarded this to those who have the fortune of being my child so they can be inspired in their last minute gifts. Thanks.
Donna!!!!! I have a big grin on my face right now! You always make me giggle! (I had a good day today!!! How bout you?) 😉
Lots of great choices here Julie. And some of them are already in my library. I guess I’ll have to share this post with the kids to get the rest.
Hehe…. Yes, I definitely put Kelly’s book on my list! 😉 Hope you had a good day! Hugs, again!
I’m going to pop over right now and check out the Grace Laced Journal. It looks like something my MIL would love.
