TUESDAY TURN ABOUT #303 Summer Yum

Last week, we welcomed May 2025 to the party.

Welcome to TTA!

Did you all have a heatwave this last week, like we did here in So Cal?

Seriously… we hit the mid 90s for a couple of days, and now we are back down to the mid 70s, praise God!

But, it definitely has me realizing that summer is just around the corner. PLUS, Memorial Day AND Independence Day are coming up quick!

So, why not get prepared with some yummy summer recipes, perfect for any get togethers or just for lighter family meal plans.

We even have a ‘recipe’ that might just surprise you! 😉

Abode Adventures

I hope you all had a wonderful Mother’s Day. This was my second Mother’s Day with my mom celebrating in Heaven. It was strange… Friday and Saturday, while working at HL, I kept thinking, “I would like to get one of those little enamel boxes we sell for Mom. She would love that!” And then a bit of disappointment set in when I realized she wasn’t here on Earth any longer! But, praise the Lord, she doesn’t need an enamel ring box, when she’s walking streets of gold!

Mother’s Day was lovely here… My son-in-love made lunch and dessert for his folks, my daughter. and me (and of course their kids, too). It was a blessed day.

My Wee Finds

With summer coming, you may want to get a jump-start on guarding against those pesky gnats and mosquitos. The Katchy Duo Indoor Insect Trap has been a lifesaver here in the trailer. With MWA being 15 years old, the doors and windows aren’t sealed as well as newer RV and campers, so the bugs visit more than I would like (not that I would EVER like them to visit)! The Katchy does a great job in controlling this issue! I leave it on 24/7!

If you decide to get the Katchy, be sure to get these Yellow Sticky Traps. I use these in place of the Katchy glue boards as they are more effective. I just use one of the glue boards as a template and cut the yellow sticky traps to fit!

Weekly Household Tip

Let’s keep with the ‘bug’ theme, shall we?

Do mosquitos love to attack as soon as you go outside? Ugh… welcome to the not-so-fun-club!

Sitting right outside my door, in a pretty hanging bucket, is a bottle of Badger Bug Spray. This spray works great and is “clean” and organic! Simply spray it on when you walk out the door. (That way you don’t get the essential oils all over the floor inside.)

Weekly Blogging Tip

A blogging buddy and I were recently talking about the Google shenanigans and how we are planning to solely write for our readers, instead of worrying about SEO. It wasn’t 5 minutes later that my son called and said he had just been laid off from his SEO job because the company was downsizing and eliminating the SEO department.

Sounds like a confirmation to me! (Please be praying for my son as he begins looking for a new job. He will be pivoting a bit on what he is looking for. My son knows the Lord, and we all trust He will be the faithful Provider He has always been!)

Though not a requirement at all, I would be SO blessed if you would subscribe and/or follow me either here on the blog, Facebook, Pinterest, or Instagram. Thanks!

Check out our Tuesday Turn About Link Party Pinterest board! All featured posts are pinned to this board each week, IF you have a pinnable image!

Let’s start sharing! Because this is a party, we encourage all who link up to visit several other bloggers who have linked as well – comments and pins are a great way to spread the love!

Before you get started, take a look at our guidelines:

  • This party is for home decor, home-related posts, and family-related posts only (recipes, organizing, DIY, crafts, travel, education, etc.). Link up to 3 related posts. Please do not link up informational posts that do not relate to the topic.
  • If you would please not link up shops, advertising, round-ups, other link parties, or any posts promoting sales, we would appreciate it.
  • DO NOT PIN FROM IMAGES ON THIS PAGE (it just won’t work right on Pinterest). However, please visit the original post/source and pin from there. That works perfectly!
  • Please make sure that your images are in a jpeg or png format. If we can’t save your image, we may not be able to feature you. So sad!
  • By linking to the party, you give us permission to share your projects on our blogs and social media, with the use of ONE photo from your blog for that may be included in a pinnable collage. We will always give proper credit with a no-pin image.

You all have a blessed week, and THANK YOU for making this party a success! I always enjoy visiting your blogs and being inspired! PLUS, TTA is a reader-favorite-post for My Wee Abode!

  5. Julie, I’m glad your son-in-love treated you for Mother’s Day. My oldest daughter graduated on Saturday, and we celebrated that and Mother’s Day afterward with her in-laws, and my other daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter. Recognizing our moms goes beyond the grave! I’ll send prayers your son finds fruitful work right away. Thank you for hosting us. I’ve joined in at #46.

  6. Julie! I’m so sorry I’m late to this party – but thank you so much for featuring my peach burrata and tomato salad! That’s so sweet of you! I can’t wait to catch up with all the goodness this week. I’m glad you have a lovely Mother’s Day, and glad you can rest easy that your mom is happy. Good luck to your son – if he’s anything like his mom, he’ll be resourceful and persevering till he gets what he’s after! Take care and thanks again for the feature!

  7. Hi Julie – you’re so right about writing for your readers. Blogging has been increasingly hard over the last year or so and it’s easy to be persuaded into different methods to try to improve and increase traffic. I too have decided to just carry on doing my best with what I know. The internet world is constantly changing their minds and through the upheaval I don’t believe your readers or mine are ready to leave behind the real world! Good luck to your son in law!
