Sunday Be Stills and God’s Thoughts
Having been sick this past week, it’s been easy to “be still”, but thinking clearly has escaped me. These are the times when I’m so grateful that God shares His thoughts with us so specifically in the Word. Let’s talk about this on Sunday Be Stills and God’s thoughts.
SUNDAY BE STILLS and GOD’S THOUGHTS
If you’ve been reading the recent newsletters from My Wee Abode, you know that I’m preparing to leave for Florida to celebrate my Grandma’s life and her Home-going last Friday. I’m looking forward to being with my extended family in Florida, but preparing for a quick trip across the country has its challenges.
Along with preparing for the trip, a hefty cold has hit me for the second time in 3 months. I’ve never had that happen before… no fun.
During this time, my head has not been the clearest (hopefully this post is making sense … hehe). In these times, I’m thankful that the Lord is clear in the Scriptures about what His thoughts are for us.
This is one of my all-time favorite verses… This version (New King James), says the Lord has thoughts of peace for us, not evil. What does that mean to you?
For me, it means He doesn’t necessarily have thoughts for me to succeed (at least not in the worldly way we sometimes think, i.e. riches, a new home, a new car, etc.) But, He does have the BEST thought He could ever have for His people…
Peace.
And this peace will lead to the future that He has for us, and the hope we have in Him.
Pretty amazing, right?
I don’t know about you, but I would MUCH rather have peace and know He has a future and a hope for me than anything else this world has to offer. Anxiety and depression with money and success? No, thank you.
Your Turn to Share
So, what do you think? Share any additional thoughts you have on this verse in the comments below… I would LOVE to hear them!
Oh, and remember to print your free verse card!
I’m so thankful God tucked this particular verse in the Bible! I cling to this promise so often, it sets the record straight on any and all circumstances I face. He knew we were going to need assurance that He’s got this when we don’t. I pray you feel better and are able to honor your Grandma in the coming days. Be Blessed! 🙏🏻
Thanks for sharing, Nancy. I couldn’t agree more with your sentiments. Hugs!
That He thinks of me at all blows me away. But He not only thinks of us, He’s preparing a place for us… a future for us.
So true, Kay… He is an amazing Father and Savior! Hugs!
In a world of so much chaos, it is reassuring that He thinks peace towards us! He intends so much more for us than what this world has to offer and I am grateful. That He wants to give us hope and a future…thank you again Father!!
Hope you feel better soon Julie. Safe travels to you as you go to celebrate the life of your Grandma :). Hugs!
Amen, sister! 😉 Thanks for the good wishes and prayers, Cindy!
This verse became special to me when our youngest grandson was diagnosed with learning disabilities. I know God does have a plan for his life. It has been amazing the resources that have been open to him. Our church has been an enormous help too. He loves going to church and participating in the youth activities. Adults there have loved him because he is so friendly and helpful.
Prayers go with you as you travel.
One of my children had learning challenges, as well, Nancy. It’s so good to see the Lord’s provision and faithfulness. I’m so glad that you have a supportive church family… makes all the difference. Thanks for sharing, Nancy!
I love this verse, Julie. Love it. I have it on a plaque that I bought at Hobby Lobby on my nightstand as a daily reminder. It got me through a difficult time in my life. I hope you feel better SOON and your trip is a safe one and filled with lots of love and family time while you remember your Grandma.

Thanks for the sweet thoughts, Carrie. I’m thankful that the Lord is our Help and Refuge in all our difficult times. 😉 Hugs, sweet friend!
Julie, This is my favorite verse. Several years ago, I had 2 surgeries on my knee (one to clean out a staph infection from the first surgery). Then antiobiotics that either broke me out or made me deathly sick. Plus another hospital stay to deal with that. Then a total knee replacement almost 7years ago. Anyhoo, someone sent me a card that had that verse on it and I have claimed it.
Thank you for sharing your experience. That sounds like a very difficult time in your life, Wendy. It’s wonderful that the Lord comforts us through His Word. 😉 Hugs!
That is such a comforting verse for me, Julie. And the printable is lovely! I appreciate it! I enjoyed this beautiful post
Thanks, Pam! You are always a sweetheart. Glad you were encouraged. Hugs!
