Tuesday Turn About #266 Fall, Food, and Flatware: The link party is live, and we are talking not just about fall, but food and tablescapes for late summer, too!

TUESDAY TURN ABOUT # FALL, FOOD, AND FLATWARE

Last week I asked if you were ‘fallready’!

For those of you new to the party… Welcome!

And for those regular attendees, welcome back! It’s so good to see everyone!

This week, fall posts were linked in a BIG way!

Some of you are definitely NOT ready for fall and want to hang on to the summer season as long as the calendar (and weather) tells you to. 😎

However, in Blogland, it’s kinda the blogger’s job to share seasonal ideas early, so you can prepare in time for the opening of the next season!

But, don’t worry… I won’t start sharing Christmas posts for a long minute. LOL!

So, before we start taking a gander at fall posts, recipes, and tablescapes (some summer, some fall), let’s get some tips and updates!

Abode Adventures

The week has been busy, as always.

My daughter and her fam, her in-laws, and I went to our county fair on Friday evening. Going during the day with temps in the high 80s would have been miserable. The cooler temperatures were pleasant and made it easy to enjoy all the sights, sounds, and smells.

One thing was missing… for me. However, I didn’t actually miss it. I skipped my traditional annual cinnamon roll! Seriously, I didn’t miss it at all. BUT, I did bring two homemade “Chocolate Covered Banana Brownies” from my NLP recipes. I partook of one, and shared one with everyone else. It was my first treat in 6 weeks! We all decided I needed to tweak the recipe a bit.😆

Update on MWA trailer happenings… All the supplies for filling the wood grain on the cabinets are in house! Now, I just need to take the plunge and get them started!

My Wee Finds

Mosquito season is still going strong here in So Cal. To keep those ankle-biters away, I use Badger Bug Spray. It’s all natural and works like a charm! On Saturday, my neighbors had a party in the backyard. I sprayed myself with Badger and no bites! A friend that was there got to the spray a little too late and ended up with about 15 bites by the end of the evening!

BUT, if I do get a bite, I’ve found that if I immediately put on some Arnicare Gel, the bite doesn’t get worse (I’m allergic), and the itching is almost nil. Don’t ask me why a muscle pain relief gel works, it just does. 🙂

Soon, I will need to start thinking about getting some smaller clothes. They will still be BIG, but smaller for me! 😉 This cute henley tunic caught my eye! I like tops that have a print, how ’bout you?

Weekly Household Tip

As a teen, I worked at Hickory Farms for a couple of years. It was a very fun job… and yummy, too!

One thing I learned there was how to properly wrap cheese in cellophane to make the cheese last longer. If you tightly wrap a piece of cheese like a Christmas present, using plastic wrap, it keeps the air away from the cheese and prevents mold from growing as quickly as it will in a plastic bag.

Also, you can cut away mold from cheese, making sure the knife is clean after each cut, and the cheese will be as good as new!

Weekly Blogging Tip

Are you backing-up your blog after every new post? If you aren’t, your blog is an accident waiting to happen!

Thankfully, I learned this tip early in my blogging career, and I’ve never been caught without one (a backup, that is). Be sure you do this after every new post, even if you have a company that does it for you in the wee hours of the night. You’ll be happy you do!

Now, let’s party!

Though not a requirement at all, I would be SO blessed if you would subscribe and/or follow me either here on the blog, Facebook, Pinterest, or Instagram. Thanks!

Let’s start sharing! Because this is a party, we encourage all who link up to visit several other bloggers who have linked as well – comments and pins are a great way to spread the love!

Before you get started, take a look at our guidelines:

  • This party is for home decor, home-related posts, and family-related posts only (recipes, organizing, DIY, crafts, travel, education, etc.). Link up to 3 related posts. Please do not link up informational posts that do not relate to the topic.
  • If you would please not link up shops, advertising, round-ups, other link parties, or any posts promoting sales, we would appreciate it.
  • DO NOT PIN FROM IMAGES ON THIS PAGE (it just won’t work right on Pinterest). However, please visit the original post/source and pin from there. That works perfectly!
  • Please make sure that your images are in a jpeg or png format. If we can’t save your image, we may not be able to feature you. So sad!
  • By linking to the party, you give us permission to share your projects on our blogs and social media, with the use of ONE photo from your blog for that may be included in a pinnable collage. We will always give proper credit with a no-pin image.

Thanks, again, for joining me at the party! I’d be pretty lonely if you weren’t all here with me! 🤣

  1. So many great tips, Julie! I had no idea about the Arnicare for bug bites. I’m definitely trying that next time! Also, thank you so much for including my post in your features! Enjoy your week!

    1. I hope it works for you. I used it last night, again. Somehow I got a bit in my trailer when I didn’t have the spray on. The Arnica worked again!

  2. I’m hesitant to believe that bug spray would work in my neck of the woods, but I love that top and put one on my wish list. I also love the mushroom scape. I’m crazy for anything mushrooms.

    1. Well, the bug spray is affordable. Can’t hurt to try. Last year, I took Mom out by the fountain in the apartment complex, and she got about 10 bites in just a couple minutes… and got the same. I started using the spray, and never got bit anymore! Mosquitos are pretty rampant here in So Cal. 🙂 Hope you get your tunic!

  3. Thanks so much for the party Julie and all the great tips! I am delighted to have my Thinking Fall post included in the features this week, Fall will be here before we know it! Have a great week~

  4. Happy Tuesday, Julie! You’ve highlighted so much fall goodness! It’s coming, isn’t it??? I always look forward to autumn and the cooler temps and our changing landscape. I always look forward to your weekly tips, too! I always learn something new! Thanks, as always, for hosting us all!

  5. Pumpkin bread is a fall and winter favorite around here. There are lower oil recipes that are just as good as the old fashioned recipes. Thanks so much for sharing my fall ideas post this week. I’m ready, now if I can get the weather to realize it’s almost September. Thanks for having us over!

    1. Same here… we are reaching 97 today!!! That’s the hottest it’s been here since I moved to this area. It’s crazy. MWA 2.0 was just 20 minutes closer to the beach, and it’s 6-10 degrees cooler there! My AC is going to work hard!

    1. That is awesome, Esme, that you are shedding pounds, as well! 5 pounds isn’t far to go, but I know if can feel tedious! You go, girl!

      1. Yes, but I am determined to get there sooner rather than later. Once I get there, I will be back to what I used to be 25 years ago.
Rooting for you as well. Keep going Julie.

  6. Julie,
I am so ready for Fall and we are having a few days with high’s in the upper 60’s which is just beautiful!! Getting some much needed yard work done this week!!
Thanks so much for hosting!! I really appreciate the time and effort that goes into it along with visiting all the links!!

    1. Yay… we actually had cool temps through the night, and today has a lovely breeze with high of 83! So much better than 97 last week!

  7. Julie! Thank you so much for featuring my colorful table! I’m honored to be included in such wonderful company! Great tips this week too, and how fun to go to the fair! As you know, I love the tablescape competitions! In fact I’m working on my entry right now for tomorrow’s set up! I’ll be back tomorrow to link up a post! Thank you so much for hosting – I love catching up with you each week!

  8. I know it has to come but it’s sooooo early to talk Fall! Our Summer in the UK has been very changeable (as always) and the sunshine was late coming. I’m really not ready to write it off, and anyway we’re only going on holiday next week. But so many yummy recipes to tuck away to try later, particularly the pumpkin bread. Pumpkin is much more readily available over here these days.
And I am really grateful to hear about Arnicare for mosquitoes, wherever I go they appear to follow, so a great one to try thank you.

  9. How exciting to be able to buy new (smaller) clothes, Julie; way to go! Thanks for hosting each week; I’m not to Fall yet…squeezing out the last days of summer here in the north:)

    1. Thanks, Lora! Pumpkin Spice started yesterday at Starbuck’s. I’ll be making my own healthy version this year! 😉 I’m ready for summer to be done. It’s been pretty hot here.
