Tuesday Turn About #140 Hello March

Spread the love

The party is going strong… it’s Tuesday Turn About #140 Hello March!

TUESDAY TURN ABOUT #140 HELLO MARCH

Last week we looked at preparing for spring!

It’s hard to believe it is the first day of March, and spring is just around the corner!

With all that is going on in the world and even personally this past week, we hostesses feel like a little bit of normal is good… so the link party is happening. 🙂

Please keep in prayer the people of Ukraine. My cousin-in-law is an immigrant from Ukraine and, praise God, her mom ‘happens’ to be visiting here in the U.S. right now. It is heartbreaking what is going on.

The Loss of a Dear Friend

Along with war going on in Europe, the blogging community at large lost a wonderful woman in their community. Not to mention, I lost a very dear friend.

This past weekend, Paula Skulina from Sweet Pea lost her 5-year battle with large-cell non-smokers lung cancer.

She fought her battle by ‘living her best life’ with her hubby and pup, Sherman. Paula always had a project she was working on, loved decorating and renovating their lake house, and traveled as much as she and Dave (and Sherman) could!

Paula’s style, which she called ‘old lady vintage’, was far from outdated. She had a style that was classic and always lovely!

This photo is from her Farmhouse Hutch with Vintage Yellow Pottery post. This is the post where I was first “met” Paula.

Friends Forever

Paula and I became good friends shortly after I discovered her blog. As a matter of fact, I visited her and Dave at the end of September 2020. It was a lovely week of visiting historical sites, blogging, and relaxing at the lake house. I had told Paula on several occasions that she gave me the lake-life bug! She was kinda proud of that!

Paula will be missed by so many. She was sweet, kind, and smart! Our daily chats and perusing blog hops together are wonderful memories that I will keep forever.

This week, as a tribute to Paula and her blog, each of the hostesses will be featuring Sweet Pea on their party post.

Be sure to hop on over to My Family Thyme and Reinvented Delaware to check out SIX additional features from TTA!
If you haven’t been featured at MWA this week, you just may be featured there!

Now, let’s get to the party that Paula always joined and loved!

Because of all that has been happening, the weekly tips will return next week.

Before you get started, take a look at our guidelines:

  • This party is for home decor and home-related posts only (recipes, organizing, DIY, crafts, etc.). Link up to 3 related posts. Please do not link up informational posts that do not relate to the topic.
  • If you would please not link up shops, advertising, round-ups, other link parties, or any posts promoting sales, we would appreciate it.
  • DO NOT PIN FROM IMAGES ON THIS PAGE (it just won’t work right on Pinterest). However, please visit the original post/source and pin from there. That works perfectly!
  • Please make sure that your images are in a jpeg or png format. If we can’t save your image, we may not be able to feature you. So sad!
  • By linking to the party, you give us permission to share your projects on our blogs and social media, with the use of ONE photo from your blog for that may be included in a pinnable collage. We will always give proper credit with a no-pin image.

All the spring posts are so fun to look at! Thank you all for joining us each week, and keep ’em coming!

  17. Dear Julie
I was so sorry to hear about Paula. I loved her blog and remember when you visited her. My sincere condolences to you. She will be greatly missed. She truly impacted so many lives.

  18. Julie, do you know if there is a way we can send our condolences to Paula’s family? I only started following her about six months ago and I don’t know why, but she just touched me. Maybe because I had had cancer, I don’t know. I just know that I thought she was a beautiful young lady and I loved her decorating style and how she would incorporate precious and treasured things from her family. I know that her mom has been battling cancer, too, and would really like to let them know how much I valued Paula. Thank you.

    1. That is so kind and thoughtful of you, Lisa… Do you get Paula’s newsletter? Her address is on the bottom of each of her newsletters. 🙂 Let me know if you can’t find it, and I’ll email you.

      1. I did not realize she had a newsletter. I followed her blog though. Here is my email address. If you would send me her mailing address, I would love to send a sympathy card. You are so kind. Thank you.

      2. Not sure if my response went through. I did not now she had a newsletter. If you would email address info to me, I would be most appreciative. This is such a terrible loss. Honestly, I cried so hard when I read that she had passed. Thank you.

    1. Her family history and DIYs were always my favorite! And her home is as beautiful in person as it is on the blog! 🙂

  20. An absolutely beautiful tribute for a beautiful lady, Julie. Paula was such a bright light and brave soul. I think I first “met” her when I commented on those curtains and ones she also made in her living room…so talented. She will be missed. Thank for the kind email and for featuring me this week. I’m truly humbled, there are so many lovely posts. It’s definitely a bright spot in a tough week.

  21. Oh, this makes me incredibly sad to hear. I started following her around Christmas time, and I remember mentioning that my dad had the same cancer, and I had been his caregiver, and even though she was the one ill, she gave me kind words of encouragement. It touched me so much that I had her in my prayer list. AS I write this, I have an incredible sense of sadness because she was such a kind soul. Thank you for sharing a bit more about her.

    1. She was always concerned about others, and one of the kindest people I knew. Thanks for sharing your story, Angie!

  22. Such a thoughtful and sweet way to honor Paula! She will be missed, she was positive and optimistic, such great and unique traits these days! Thank you for the feature of my carved eggs! Have a nice weekend!
