Tuesday Turn About #297 Kids and Culinary
Tuesday Turn About #297 Kids and Culinary: We are all about spring and Easter for the kids this week, and we have some wonderful recipes for the season, as well!
TUESDAY TURN ABOUT #297 KIDS AND CULINARY
Last week’ there were lots of spring sightings to enjoy.
Welcome to the first party of April, 2025!
I’m sad to announce that this will be the last post for Tuesday Turn About.

APRIL FOOL’S!
How many of you knew that was coming?!
All joking aside, the first party of April is featuring lots of kids activities/ideas and some yummy recipes. There’s even a post for how to prep your nursery for a newborn!
So, let’s get to it!
Abode Adventures
It’s been a hot minute since I shared the happenings here at MWA.
My broken tooth, plus two others next to the broken one, will be fixed on April 8. I’ll be in the chair for about 2.5 hours! Thankful they are able to save the broken tooth, and nothing but a couple crowns and one bonding are needed. Still, even with them accepting my insurance, it’s a nice chunk of change being paid out!
I hate to be vague about the happenings from the week before last, but I must be (vague, that is). Suffice to say, I had to give a statement to the police on Monday afternoon, and the case is still open. I am safe, and was not hurt physically, but I was a witness to a crime.
On to happier things! Today (Monday), my first ‘grand’ nephew was born! Yep, that’s three babies in three month for our family. This is my sister’s fourth grandchild, and FIRST grandson! She keeps joking that she doesn’t know what to do with a boy, since she had three girls, and her daughters have had all girls, until now. Forest James is the brother to Juniper and Olive. Yes, there is a color theme going on there. 😉
My Wee Finds
So, instead of sharing finds, I have a question.
Has anyone purchased “barefoot” shoes?
I am having some HUGE issues with my one foot. It has come up in the last month. I plan on seeing a podiatrist, but I’m thinking I need some shoes with a square toe, and probably something with a flexible upper.
Gettin’ old is not for the fainthearted!
Weekly Household Tip
Did you know that you can descale your coffee maker with vinegar, instead of purchasing the expensive descale kits? Just use the same amount of vinegar as what is in the bottle of descaling liquid and follow the descaling instructions as usual.
Weekly Blogging Tip
Instead of a blogging tip this week, I have another question.
What would you all like to see posted here on My Wee Abode… other than the normal TTA post each week?
I’ve got several posts in the works, but I wondered what YOU would like help with! Let me know in the comments below!
Now, let’s party!
Though not a requirement at all, I would be SO blessed if you would subscribe and/or follow me either here on the blog, Facebook, Pinterest, or Instagram. Thanks!

Let’s start sharing! Because this is a party, we encourage all who link up to visit several other bloggers who have linked as well – comments and pins are a great way to spread the love!
Before you get started, take a look at our guidelines:
- This party is for home decor, home-related posts, and family-related posts only (recipes, organizing, DIY, crafts, travel, education, etc.). Link up to 3 related posts. Please do not link up informational posts that do not relate to the topic.
- If you would please not link up shops, advertising, round-ups, other link parties, or any posts promoting sales, we would appreciate it.
- DO NOT PIN FROM IMAGES ON THIS PAGE (it just won’t work right on Pinterest). However, please visit the original post/source and pin from there. That works perfectly!

The last few weeks I have had SO many posts that I have wanted to feature! Y’all make it SO hard to choose just twelve! Thanks for joining each week and sharing your inspiration with all of us!

Julie, I’m happy to hear that you were able to get your dental work scheduled. I’m sorry to hear that you witnessed a crime. Also, I hope you’re able to figure out what’s going on with your foot soon. Take care.
Thanks, Steph. The new barefoot shoes seem to be helping a lot! We’ll see!
2.5 hours in a dentist chair? I could never. I get anxiety over a cleaning. And you were a witness to a crime? That sounds scary. I’m so sorry
All is good. I have my teeth worked on this Tuesday, so I’ll let everyone know the outcome NEXT week! 😉 But, I do understand the anxiety. 🙂
My Son in Law has worn a “barefoot” type shoe that separates the toes as well. He loves them, these were from many years ago, I think I would like to thy them as well! But the separate toe design, stopped me from buying a pair. Thanks for hosting and including my recipe in the line up, I appreciate it! Have a great week ahead! Melynda @scratchmadefood!
Oh, I would not like the separate toe option either, Melynda. The one I purchased do not have the separate toes… just a wide box. So far, so good!
May I suggest that you hold off buying shoes until you get recommendations from a podiatrist? They will be able to diagnose and give some direction.
Thanks for the tips, Kim. I found some affordable option for the barefoot shoes, as I could not wear my other New Balance anymore. These seem to be helping! But a podiatrist is definitely on the agenda!
Thanks for having us over, Julie. Life is sometimes crazy. take care.
Yes, it is! So glad you are here each week, my friend!
Golly Julie – witnessing a crime sounds stressful!! But congratulations on your new little one – your family is certainly growing! Thanks so much for continuing to host this party, even when life is so busy. Take care my friend, and Happy April.
So good to have you at the party this week, my friend! I’m happy to be featuring your quiche recipe at this week’s party!
Oh, Julie, you got me! haha I let out a breath when you said April Fool’s! You have had a lot going on! Hope your dental visit goes quickly and smoothly. I’ve had a few of those myself! Thanks for hosting!
Thank you, Pam! I actually didn’t think I would ‘get’ anyone. LOL! 😉
I’m so intrigued to hear more about your barefoot shoe exploration, Julie! I often need to stretch out my toes at the end of the day and sometimes. even wish I could use separators during the day. Good luck on April 8 – sounds like you are ready for it! And, I’m so sory you witnessed a crime that then involved the police. So scary! Congrats on the arrival of a new baby boy to the family! Thanks so much for the party and most especially for highlighting our “10 Pranks” post! You got me with your own April Fools’ line! 🙄
You are so welcome, Laura! Sounds like you might benefit from these shoes, too! They seem to be making a difference!
Glad that you’re safe, despite what happened. Take care and congrats with the additions to the family.
Thanks for the party, Julie, have a great day.
My entries this week #40+41
Hope to see you share with SSPS:
Thanks so much, Esme! Small party this week. I always wonder what’s going on with this happens!
I’ve never tried the barefoot shoes but I’ve been seeing commercials for them all the time. I do swear by crocs though lol. They have a good arch and lots of room at the top for your toes, plus I love that the holes keep my feet cool. I can’t wear socks and real shoes any more…too hot!!! Thanks so much for featuring my nursery decorating tips and for hosting the party. Have a great week! Maria
Yes… I think the barefoot shoes are very similar to crocks. I’ve been using the barefoot shoes for a couple days now, and they seem to be helping!
So sorry to hear yu had a rough week, Julie, but your positive attitude is EVERYTHING! Have a better week, sweet friend! Creatively, Beth
Thanks so much, Beth! Hugs!
Julie,
I am so sorry that you witnessed a crime….How scary….I have never had a good relationship with dentistry ever since they had to hammer down the braces on my teeth since they were so close together…I kid you not!! But I found a great dentist a few years ago and even though i still get anxious, I honestly never feel anything and he is quick…I recently had some work done too…Wishing you luck with your dentist visit….
My Link Ups for today’s party are # 52, 53 and 54!!
Thanks so much for hosting this charming party!!! I truly do appreciate it as I do know the time involved with it….I hope you and your family are well and enjoying your week!
Hugs,
Deb

Thanks for the encouragement, Deb. I don’t get anxious being at the dentist. But, I do tense up, just from the work. I keep having to tell myself to breathe! LOL! We’ll see how it goes. This is the most work I have had done in one sitting!
Julie, these are such fun features this week. I am thrilled for your family having all these babies, they will be great friends as cousins! I love Forest James’ and his siblings’ names. I am sorry you had to be witness to a crime, and really feel for you having to sit in the dentist’s chair that long. I would have to have my PCP prescribe something and have a driver. I abhor dental work – trauma from childhood, I suppose. All my 8 older siblings are the same. And I’ve never tried naked shoes, but I hope you get relief. Being on your feet so much demands great care in the shoes you choose.
Thank you for hosting. I am at #61 this week, with a spring tablescape and a creative container for my centerpiece plants. 😉
Thanks for dropping in and linking up, Rita! Your tablescape is lovely, and will be featured this coming Tuesday!
