TUESDAY TURN ABOUT #264 WRAPPING UP SUMMER

We had all kinds of FREEBIES as last week’s party.

The party has started, and we’re starting to wrap-up summer!

Are you?

While saying ‘hello’ to August, we also look forward to starting to prep for fall!

I can hear some of you saying, “Fall… already???!!!”

Well, we need to start prepping for the holiday and seasonal decorating that so many of us love, right?

However, this week, we’ll still be featuring some fun summer posts, including DIYs, recipes, crafts and more!

But first…

Abode Adventures

I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for some cooler temps. Unfortunately, here in So Cal, we usually don’t see those temps until late October or early November!

So, for now, the AC remains on from 10am until 7pm, and sometimes later! Moving to the trailer location has brought me into temps that are about 5-10 degrees warmer than when I lived in MWA 2.0. Whew!

The first four weeks and detox/reset has come to close for my new eating lifestyle. But, the lifestyle continues with more yummy recipes, coaching calls, digital magazines, and more!

And now, for the grand total of weight loss for the first four weeks…

I’m down by 12.6 pounds!

Seriously, I have to give God ALL the glory in this! And I can’t wait to share a post this week, letting you in on the full intel!

My Wee Finds

Do you like to make your own salad dressings? What about just having oil and vinegar available to add a ‘punch’ to your greens? With my new eating style, I’ve started making my own dressings, and I’m using these glass cruet bottles to make it easy to shake and pour!

When Mom was with us, she struggled with keeping the shower curtain closed when she was in the assisted living apartment. So, I purchased these easy to use magnets for the sides, along with these magnetic shower curtain weights. They work like a charm, and I’m now using some in my tiny shower!

Of course, along with all the cooking, there is also some baking going on now at My Wee Abode! Yum! These stainless steel measuring cups and spoons are a nice weight so they don’t go flying (like plastic often does), and they are healthy, too! 😉

Weekly Household Tip

The ‘flying shower curtain/liner’ really can be a problem. Does anyone else deal with this? (I’m raising my hand here.)

As I shared above, if you need to keep your shower curtain in place so it’s not flying and sticking to parts of your body we won’t mention here, seriously consider purchasing the shower curtain weight and side magnets I mentioned above. They are super easy to use and work really well!

Weekly Blogging Tip

Do you put effort into creating compelling headlines for your blog posts? I know I really need to work more on this!

According to Si Quan Ong from ahrefs.com:

“A click is what separates your audience from your content. And the number one thing that influences a click is your headline.”

For more information, take a look at point #5 in this article that Si wrote about “catchy” headlines.

Now, let’s grab a cool drink, or a hot coffee, depending on where you are in this world, and enjoy this week’s features!

Though not a requirement at all, I would be SO blessed if you would subscribe and/or follow me either here on the blog, Facebook, Pinterest, or Instagram. Thanks!

How to Refill Expensive Candle Holders

MaryJo from Masterpieces of My Life is showing us how we can refill those beautiful (and expensive) candle vessels that have been used up! What a clever idea!

Repurposed Starbuck’s Bottles

This is such a neat idea! There are many spices that we all use a lot of, such as cinnamon, oregano (well, at least I do), and salt. Using empty Starbuck’s ready-made coffee bottles to store spices is a great way to upcycle, and they look smart, too! See the how-to from Bethany at An Inspired Home.

The more I’m cooking these days, the more I realize I need an air fryer. I actually sold mine just before I moved to MWA 3.0! But, I digress. Judy from Recipes Simple is sharing her quick and easy air fryer vegetable medley recipe that will be put on my cooking list!

Check out our Tuesday Turn About Link Party Pinterest board! All featured posts are pinned to this board each week, IF you have a pinnable image!

TTA Banner Heading 3

Let’s start sharing! Because this is a party, we encourage all who link up to visit several other bloggers who have linked as well – comments and pins are a great way to spread the love!

Before you get started, take a look at our guidelines:

  • This party is for home decor, home-related posts, and family-related posts only (recipes, organizing, DIY, crafts, travel, education, etc.). Link up to 3 related posts. Please do not link up informational posts that do not relate to the topic.
  • If you would please not link up shops, advertising, round-ups, other link parties, or any posts promoting sales, we would appreciate it.
  • DO NOT PIN FROM IMAGES ON THIS PAGE (it just won’t work right on Pinterest). However, please visit the original post/source and pin from there. That works perfectly!
  • Please make sure that your images are in a jpeg or png format. If we can’t save your image, we may not be able to feature you. So sad!
  • By linking to the party, you give us permission to share your projects on our blogs and social media, with the use of ONE photo from your blog for that may be included in a pinnable collage. We will always give proper credit with a no-pin image.

Next week, I’ll be looking for those fall DIYs, decor, and crafts! Looking forward to sharing with you about my last 4 weeks of healthy eating, too!

  2. I can’t wait to read your post about the details of your healthy changes, Julie! Also, those little cruet bottles are so cute, and they remind me of when I was growing up and my mom would buy those little packets of salad dressing mix that she would add to oil and vinegar in one of those little bottles. Thanks for hosting!

  3. Julie,
Congrats on the weight loss..That is fantastic!! I am trying to get myself back on track bit i really need to start walking again…We are getting a break from the heat this coming week with 6 days of high temps only in the 70’s!! Looking forward to that even if it mean rain from Hurricane Debby…We need the rain too.. My husband bought a shower curtain at bed, Bath and Beyond that cost about $40 but it is weighted on the bottom, made from a heavy fabric and it washable , which I love… worth the investment…
Thanks so much for hosting!! I really appreciate the time and effort that goes into it along with visiting all the links!!

  7. Congratulations on the weight loss Julie! I have to hop back on that bandwagon too and lose some weight! Looking forward to your post :).

  8. Congrats Julie. That’s amazing. Besides the weight loss I’m sure you’re feeling fabulous at so many levels. It’s a wonderful feeling. Thanks for hosting us and I appreciate the feature on my candles. Have a great week & stay cool. XO- MaryJo

    1. You were featured at a lot of parties this week, it seems! Woot! And, yes… SO many benefits to having a healthy diet!

  9. Thanks so much for having us over, Julie. Great to hear about the weight loss, I think most of us need to constantly be aware of what we consume and a healthy lifestyle. Looking forward to hearing about it! Golly, wish we could turn off our AC at 7 pm. Have a great week. I’m looking forward to fall.

    1. Oh, the temps are crazy across the country. Then you have states that are getting all kinds of rain! Not here!

  10. Although I have to confess that I’m soooo over heat and humidity, I’m not ready for fall. I feel like I never really had a spring or summer, having spent most of both seasons cooped up in the house. Maybe your reminder will kick start my planning process!

    1. Why have you been cooped-up? Has it been too hot? Yeah… I would want fall just for the cooler temps! Last year, we only had about two weeks of high temps… this year, almost the whole summer!

  11. 5 – 10 degrees warmer – glad you have an a/c! Thanks for the party and the blogging tips. Going to check out the article you linked. Stay cool and congrats on the weight loss too! You are my hero.

    1. I think what has stopped me so often in the past is having to think about food… ALL THE TIME! It seems counter-intuitive and contradictory to what we want. For food to be in its “proper place”. This new plan has eliminated that for me! Glad to have you with us each week!

    1. Yes… walking is such a great way to exercise when you don’t like to exercise! My walking buddy returned from vacation, and immediately her fam came to visit. So, we’ll see how it goes while they are here. 😉
