Tuesday Turn About #318 August Shenanigans: This week, we have recipes, crafts, decor ideas, and more for summer and fall!

TUESDAY TURN ABOUT #318 SUMMER SHENANIGANS

Last week’s party was a bit of ‘fall’ing back to school.

Welcome to Tuesday Turn About!

Are you ready for the LAST party of August 2025?!

Just a public-service-announcement… there are 18 more Tuesdays until Christmas! 🙄

I can’t even.

Let’s keep our minds on the present, and maybe a little on the NEAR future, like fall, shall we?

We’ve got some yummy recipes, crafts, decorating inspiration and a twist on our favorite treat around the firepit!

Abode Adventures

Everything is status quo with my grandson. He is feeling great, and just a loveable as ever. Yesterday at church, he came up and gave me a big hug and said, “I gave you a big hug because I love you so much.” Now, who wouldn’t melt over that?!

This weekend, I’m headed to my son’s home for an overnight visit. I’m looking forward to spending time with my four grands that live a bit farther up north.

The temps are extremely high here in So Cal, which is the norm for this time of year. We usually have about 2-3 weeks of 90s-100s, and then it starts going to the 80s on a regular basis. Getting up early to beat the heat and do the ‘trailer chores’ is normal for me right now.

Hobby Lobby feels like Christmas…

With Christmas items at 50% off, we are actually having LOTS of customers walk up with one or two FULL carts of Christmas decor. Many are doing ‘cross-holidation’… a little bit of fall and a bit of Christmas.

Our warehouse has a walking path, and the boxes are literally just about to the ceiling! Over 65% is Christmas, so we still have a TON to put out, and more is coming from Oklahoma each week!

My countertops are coming…

But with all that has been going on with the fam, and now a heatwave that requires fans and AC that blow about dust, I need to wait until it gets a bit cooler. However, I will start prep on the counters soon and plan to do them in two half-days since the area is quite small!

My Wee Finds

In my never-ending-search for the best shoes to wear at Hobby Lobby, I think these no-tie shoes from Orthofeet are working well for me. They are XX-wide and stretchy and have three different orthotic insert plus an arch booster that are all removeable! I’m liking them… so far!

This water meter gauge is something I use for the trailer to measure the water I flush in to clean the tanks every two weeks. It’s also great for measuring water for gardening, washing cars, etc.

As my eyebrows get whiter/grayer, and are thinning, as well, I’ve found this gray eyebrow pencil from NYX is the perfect color!

Weekly Household Tip

Trying to beat the heat at night, and don’t want to use the AC? Try placing a large box fan in your window. It works wonders!

Let’s start sharing! Because this is a party, we encourage all who link up to visit several other bloggers who have linked as well – comments and pins are a great way to spread the love!

Before you get started, take a look at our guidelines:

  • This party is for home decor, home-related posts, and family-related posts only (recipes, organizing, DIY, crafts, travel, education, etc.). Link up to 3 related posts. Please do not link up informational posts that do not relate to the topic.
  • If you would please not link up shops, advertising, round-ups, other link parties, or any posts promoting sales, we would appreciate it.
  • DO NOT PIN FROM IMAGES ON THIS PAGE (it just won’t work right on Pinterest). However, please visit the original post/source and pin from there. That works perfectly!
  • Please make sure that your images are in a jpeg or png format. If we can’t save your image, we may not be able to feature you. So sad!
  • By linking to the party, you give us permission to share your projects on our blogs and social media, with the use of ONE photo from your blog for that may be included in a pinnable collage. We will always give proper credit with a no-pin image.

My computer mouse is acting wonky, so I’m glad I finally got this post done! I’ll take it to my SIL on Wednesday to have it cleaned and assessed. It’s awesome having a SIL and son who are in the tech business!

Looking forward to all the fun posts this week! Have a good one!

  1. So glad to hear your grandson is doing well. No, I can’t believe Christmas is only 18 Tuesdays away, and I also can’t believe people are buying cartloads of Christmas stuff already. I can’t even think about Christmas right now. Thanks for the party.

  2. Your grandson sounds like the sweetest and very caring. I am glad to hear that he is doing well. I didn’t even realize Christmas was that close! I’m over here like, “Wow, this year has flown by!” Thank you for featuring my four fall colorful tray designs. I appreciate it so much. As always, thank you for hosting. Have a wonderful time at your son’s house.

  3. Julie,
I can only imagine the hard time I would have working at Hobby Lobby especially this time of year….I am blessed with 2 windows in my bedroom and I have an air conditioner in one and a window fan in the other. I block the window fan with a piece of card board cut to fit when I use the air conditioner but it has been cooler here so I have just been using the window fan on low…
    My Link Ups for today’s party are # 8, 9 and 10!!
Thanks so much for hosting!! I really appreciate the time and effort that goes into it along with visiting all the links!! I hope you are enjoying your week and you are doing well…

  6. Thanks so much Julie! It’s wonderful to hear that your grandson is doing so well 🙏🏻 Sorry about the heat wave, not fun if you don’t have AC!

  7. I’m so happy to hear that your grandson is feeling well! Hopefully you will get more direction soon but, in the meantime, those hugs and smiles are everything, I’m sure! Enjoy your visit with your son and grandkids! Thanks so much for including our “S’more Croissants” post as one of your features this week! Happy Tuesday, Julie!

  8. My blogging tip is one I learned while I was a “beginner” quilt blogger and participated in a group of other new quilt bloggers. It is to always ask a question to engage your readers. It doesn’t always have to be “quilt” related (in my case).

The other is to keep a file, physical or virtual, for blog topics. Sometimes writing a blog story flows easily… other times, draw inspiration or ideas from the blog topic file.

Thanks for the chance to share in the party.

  9. I’m so glad your grandson is doing ok Julie – that must be a huge weight off your heart! 💛Thanks so much for featuring my potato salad. That was so kind of you! And thank you for hosting the party – I hope you manage to stay cool down there! Thanks again, and take care, my friend!
