TUESDAY TURN ABOUT #273 OCTOBER FUN AND TIPS

Last week’s party was all about the great outdoors.

Are you ready to party?

I’m so glad you are here this second week in October!

I’ve got lots to share, including all things Halloween AND fall! We have tips, crafts, and a cute easy recipe, too!

Are you ready for some October fun? Let’s get started!

Abode Adventures

I’ve been keeping something from you…

I started looking for a part-time job! And, this week, I was hired at my interview at our local Hobby Lobby for a seasonal-to-possibly-permanent position. Well, I was kinda hired.

When I got home and started looking for my social security card, I couldn’t find it! Still can’t! So, when I showed up for my first day of work yesterday morning, the manager would not start my paperwork. I had a copy of the card (with my former employer’s help) and a receipt from SSA saying that I had the card on order, but it was a no-go.

SO now I wait for the mailman to bring the card, and then contact the manager to see if the position is still open. (He thinks it will be.)

This was a very humbling experience and helped me to think about how *I* think of people when they make mistakes. If I were in the HL manager’s position (and I was for over 20 years), I would think, “How could they misplace something SO important!” Sigh. Thankful the Lord is still teaching me in my old age. 😉

My Wee Finds

With the hopes of starting the new job this week, I did some food prep ahead of time. I found out real quick that a food chopper is a new ‘must’, so I’m making room in the trailer for this handy Meuller Chopper that has GREAT reviews and LOTS of them!

This past week, I made a new muffin recipe and used the parchment liners I purchased a while back. Welp, I’m goin’ back to the silicone! I know they might not be the healthiest option, but I’m looking for something else in the meantime.

I’m still shopping for some new blouses and shirts. This one is a cross between a blouse and t-shirt. And this graphic tee is just perfect for the fall!

Weekly Household Tip

Want to leave your dishwashing liquid on the counter, but don’t like the sight of it? Transfer the liquid into a pretty container and it will be both handy and handsome!

Weekly Blogging Tip

It’s time to hold on tight (again) when it comes to Pinterest. They are making changes, and the best thing to do IS our best, and wait it out! Ugh! (Sorry it’s not a better tip this week!)

Though not a requirement at all, I would be SO blessed if you would subscribe and/or follow me either here on the blog, Facebook, Pinterest, or Instagram. Thanks!

Check out our Tuesday Turn About Link Party Pinterest board! All featured posts are pinned to this board each week, IF you have a pinnable image!

Let’s start sharing! Because this is a party, we encourage all who link up to visit several other bloggers who have linked as well – comments and pins are a great way to spread the love!

Before you get started, take a look at our guidelines:

  • This party is for home decor, home-related posts, and family-related posts only (recipes, organizing, DIY, crafts, travel, education, etc.). Link up to 3 related posts. Please do not link up informational posts that do not relate to the topic.
  • If you would please not link up shops, advertising, round-ups, other link parties, or any posts promoting sales, we would appreciate it.
  • DO NOT PIN FROM IMAGES ON THIS PAGE (it just won’t work right on Pinterest). However, please visit the original post/source and pin from there. That works perfectly!
  • Please make sure that your images are in a jpeg or png format. If we can’t save your image, we may not be able to feature you. So sad!
  • By linking to the party, you give us permission to share your projects on our blogs and social media, with the use of ONE photo from your blog for that may be included in a pinnable collage. We will always give proper credit with a no-pin image.

The party was a bit ‘skinny’ last week! And we even had some people come back that I was missing! Yay! Keep those posts coming! I love seeing what you all are up to, and so do my readers!

  1. Now you have me wondering where my social security card is! That job sounds fun, and I’m sure they will hold it for you. That monster munch is so cute and looks tasty! I love those soap dispensers you linked to. (You’ve been helping me build my Amazon wish list, haha!) Have a great week, Julie!

    1. You are the third comment saying they need to go look for their card! LOL! The Lord will hold the position if it is where He wants me. 🙂

  2. Hi Julie, thank you so much for featuring my Halloween Countdown printable at this week’s party. I am honored and grateful. I hope you have a fabulous week!

  3. Wow that’s interesting you needed your actual card. My card was stolen with my wallet years ago. Like 30+ I want to say and I never replaced it. I’ve never needed it just know the number. Well hope you get the job. Thanks for hosting us and I appreciate the moody blooms feature. Have a great week. XO- MaryJo

  4. Julie,
How exciting to work at Hobby Lobby….The one thing I did do after joe passed way was to look for and find all important papers and what not…Luckily, he kept everything in a fire retardant safe so i had everything I needed…I did discover that we still have a safe deposit box at a local bank that I forgot about and after doing some research as to whether I should keep it, I found out that it is a good idea to put your SS card, titles to cars or homes, etc. in that box so they would not be in your home in case of a disaster…I will be doing that soon as I am also going to put my son’s name on it so he will have access to it when I am gone…Thanks so much for hosting!! I really appreciate the time and effort that goes into it along with visiting all the links!! I hope you are enjoying your week and you are doing well…

    1. Yes… ALL my other important documents were in my fire-retardant case, but not the SS card. SO frustrating. Sounds like you have a good plan!

  5. Julie, you will fit right in and love working at HL! I never shopped one until we moved to Texas and now it is a favorite place to stop. I love that “stained glass” Pumpkin, so festive without being over the top. (I know, I am a Halloween scrooge…my daughter however makes up for my lacking!). Thanks so much for the link-up! Have a great week ahead. Melynda @scratchmadefood!

    1. Thanks, Melynda. I’m praying the job will still be available, Lord-willing. I never decorated for Halloween, neither did my folks, and my kids don’t do much either.

  6. Working at Hobby Lobby sounds like a dream job – especially during the coming season! I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you! Now I need to go find my Social Security card!!! Thanks for hosting and for all the great tips!

    1. LOL! And I just realized I didn’t comment on everyone’s post! I was too busy looking for the SS card yesterday! I even drove 1.5 hours away to my son’s to see if it was in boxes I stored there. Nope.

  7. Julie that is so great about Hobby Lobby! It would be so dangerous if I worked there…I would spend my entire paycheck. Ha!

Thanks so much for sharing my monster munch trail mix. It was a big hit in our house and I hope your readers enjoy it too!

  8. Now I’m wondering where my SS card is. I know it is here somewhere! Thanks again for a great link party and thank you for featuring my pillow cleaning post! Have a great week!

    1. Right? I am figuring I took it with me on a trip, it got mixed up with receipts, and I must have thrown it away. So silly!

  9. Great features! I know what you mean about Pinterest…we never know what they want! Thanks for hosting and enjoy your week!
    Shelley

  10. A huge thank you, Julie, for featuring my Dollar Tree Halloween Votives this week with the rest of the amazing inspiration! good luck with the new job and have a lovely week! Creatively, Beth

  11. Julie, first, thanks so much for featuring my DIY acorn project. I really appreciate it. Surely, the Hobby Lobby job will still be there. I hope you get a great discount! Craft stores need people who have experience like you. I have all our birth certificates, voter registration cards, and SS cards at home. Everything else is in a safety deposit box at the bank. We probably should move everything there. Good reminder.

  12. Thanks so much for the kind words and including me in your features this week! I would be in the same boat as you. I’m not sure where anything is since our move. Thought I was so organized but NO! I’ve thought so often of doing something like that part-time as well but I lack the willpower to not spend my entire paycheck right there at work.Thank you again and good luck at your new job!

  13. Thank you so much for your kind invitation to join in on the fun, Julie! There are SO many inspiring ideas being shared here – I’ve linked up my ‘famous’ Original Sweet Sweater Pumpkin tutorial and a fun new way that I re-made them this year. I hope your readers are inspired to give my easy no-sew DIY pumpkins a try!
